Culinary Kudos

The culinary awakening of recent years is not leaving anyone behind. It is well known that the TV culture of celebrity chefs and cooking related programming has awakened a surge of interest in adult chefs, but the phenomenon exists among the younger set as well. Kids are noticing what’s on their plates and become inquisitive about how it got there.

With a few basic skills under their belts, the kids are encouraged to test their palates with some basic training in simple food preparation, seasoning and tasting. The boot camp culminates in a cooking competition whereby each team of students work towards preparing a wonderful plate. All baking and cutting of food items are done by class teachers or the chef invited to conduct the cooking session.

Sports
The enhancement of physical and mental development of children is certainly the most important contribution of sports for children.

participating in sports can be a helpful way of reducing stress and increasing feelings of physical and mental well-being, as well as fighting against juvenile delinquency, conflict and aggressive outbursts. The point is to keep the body in good health in order to be able to keep our mind strong and clear.

Our pupils are trained by a professional athlete who has attained the following achievements in both the national and international sports industry:

  • In the top 100 among 20,000 thousand participants in Vienna City Half Marathon (Gold label Event by the IAAF).

YogaSWIMMINGDANCEOTHER SPORT ACTIVITIES

Hours a day sitting at desk or computer monitor and more hours doing homework cause a young body to tense up. Social and family pressures and, unfortunately anxiety also take their toll. It all adds up to the same high stress levels that have caused the grown-up world to flock to yoga classes to find Zen.

The structures, activities and postures of yoga at school are geared for specific group of pupils starting from the lower pre-primary section to the upper primary section.

Swimming lessons are still one of the most popular extra-curricular activities that our pupils enjoy. Children are supervised around water, even once they have learnt how to swim. With our new sports centre in implementation pupils will take full advantage of the various sports equipment in place.

Our pupils are coached by a professional dancer Mrs. N. Seebaluck, from Assam India, a degree holder from the University of Delhi.

Kathak and Zumba

Creativity is the soul of any art. Through dance children are encouraged to imagine and move with their bodies and present their ideas through new means of communication. Dance also helps boost a child’s confidence and develop his or her social skills. Practicing Kathak daily improves the bodily posture and overall body balance of a growing child and not just that it also strengthens the eye and neck muscles as these are used a lot during the dance moves. The active movements involved (especially tapping the feet constantly) increases the blood flow to the whole body and makes the body more supple. By practicing Zumba, children learn to appreciate different types of music and culture through the dance moves that Zumba provides. By combining music with dance and exercise, children’s minds grow and they become aware of a bigger beautiful world for all.

MINDFULNESS PROGRAM

Our teachers have been guided by Mrs. S.Gobin a trained coach from the USA to conduct mindfulness program at school with our pupils.
Mindfulness education in the classroom plays a role in enhancing children’s self-regulatory abilities. It is the practice of purposely focusing your attention on the present moment and accepting it without judgment.

Educational Tours
Field Trips are very important for the overall development of a student. It gives them an opportunity to learn from their own experiences and from the experience of others.
When a student visits a historic place and learns about the history of that place, it feels as if he is seeing the historic events from his own eyes.

Theatrical Activities

Dramatic play is s a type of play where children assign and accept roles and act them out. It’s pretending to be someone or something else .

School conducts two types of theatrical activities, which are structured and unstructured dramatic play:

  • Structured play has a pre-determined set and desired outcome. The teacher sets up a scenario for the children to play into, such as setting up an “airport”, and the children then choose and assign roles from what it available and then work through problems that arise within the set.
  • Unstructured play is where children have the freedom to choose their own plan scenarios and often create their own sets based on what is available to them in class.

Benefits of dramatic play from an Early Childhood Education:

  • Dramatic play teaches self-regulation
  • It encourages language development (French & English are used)
  • It encourages conflict resolution between peers
  • It supports Maths and literacy
  • It helps relieve emotional tension
  • It is empowering to children
Summer & Winter Camp
Unlike many similar camps over half of our staff are employed for the full year to ensure that the standard of activities we offer is consistently high. Pupils are brought for educational and recreational tours during the camps.
