Curriculum

Northlands has a structure which is designed to ensure maximum effectiveness in the delivery of the curriculum and other aspects of our academic programme. Our co-ordinators / mentors are responsible for administering and co-ordinating the various stages of the academic programme. It has always be our aim to communicate clearly and effectively with parents. Parents have every right to receive information about the academic and behavioral performance of their ward. Parents are therefore invited to participate in the overall development of their ward and there is a constant flow of information between all parties, with the child being focused at center point.

The academic curriculum is M.I.E based that is the National curriculum. Pupils complete their primary education after completing the Primary School Achievement Certificate (PSAC) which is awarded by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (M.E.S).

The subjects we teach are as follows.

The list provided above is a general guide to the curriculum, although it should be noted that certain combinations of subjects may not be available every year because of staffing and timetable constraints. The School also reserves the right to withdraw a non-core subject from its programme. General questions about details of subject choices are dealt with by the Director of Studies.

Remedial

Special classes are arranged for less-performing students. The vision behind it, is to give one to one attention to the remedial students and raise the levels of learning.

“If I can’t learn the way you teach, please teach me the way I can learn.”

The school believes that all students aren’t the same. There are some different children who have special needs to meet. Special educators work collaboratively with management and share responsibility for ensuring that students with identified academic problems will meet with success. Apart from elite students, school also takes care of pupils who need additional boost in their academic level in order to excel in the competitive environment.  All students can learn when instruction is geared to their strengths and they are given sufficient opportunities to learn.
